Bali Island Trip Fully Booked --- finally

OMG!

还有另外一首Ready For the Victory, 作为boundle产品打包推出

Ready for the Victory Lyrics

You're in our hearts
Just from round to round
You will be the champion
The king without a crown
Like a fireball
You'll never never give up
Hear the engine call
Waiting for the start

Chorus:
Can't you see
We're ready for the victory
It's clear -
You're the hero just for you and me
I feel -
We're in the pole-position-team
Can't you see it's like a dream?

From Australia to USA
And From Italy to Germany
And From San Marino to Canada
He is our biggest star

Oh you cannot loose
If you have a lucky hand
You will be the hero
You have many friends
Dreams we cannot buy
You will win again
Nobody does it better
Through passion and through pain

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Win the race Lyrics

We have a dream - you'll win tonight
Take the chance, take the chance, god is on your side
We pray for you, you're like a hurricane
You can win, you can win, you can win the game
Try the impossible, we want a miracle
And there are millions fans around
Our dream is free, we want the victory
The hero's back in town.

Refrain
Oh come on, we, we can win the race
Oh he, fights just face to face
Oh see, he will win the game
Again, again, again
Oh come on, we, we can win the race
Oh he, he will take the chance
Oh only the strong survive
We'll stay by your side

We have a dream, we don't give up
We can win, we can win, right from the start
The price is high, time is on your side
Take the chance, take the chance, you'll win tonight
I know you are the best, you can beat the rest
We'll never let you down
You'll have the energy, we want the victory
The hero is back in town

WSJ/NY Times/HBR/Economist/BW ----

Who you want to be? What you want to be?

Fwd: Financial crisis special edition

Forward to a colleague

Dear Zhanfu,

Welcome to INSEAD Knowledge - an information portal showcasing the latest business research by INSEAD faculty, as well as management insights from global business leaders.

In addition to mini-sites on 'hot topics' such as Blue Ocean strategy, leadership and entrepreneurship/family business, the site offers video and audio podcasts with exclusive interviews with CEOs and top management figures, including: Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan/Renault, Craig Barrett, Chairman of Intel Corporation and Jean-Philippe Courtois, President, Microsoft International.

We invite you to discover INSEAD Knowledge through this special edition newsletter featuring a commentary on the financial sector crisis by Ilian Mihov, INSEAD Professor of Economics. You will also find links to some of our most popular articles and the latest video podcasts.

Regards,
Stuart Pallister,
Editor, INSEAD Knowledge.

The US economy may plunge into a depression if the $700 billion rescue package fails to revive the ailing banking sector, says Ilian Mihov, INSEAD Professor of Economics. "The Great Depression (this time) is still unlikely but it is not impossible anymore. This is quite sad," Mihov says. The Bush administration proposed the bail-out plan as US financial institutions continued to wilt under the weight of distressed financial assets. In September alone, the Federal Reserve had to rescue America's biggest mortgage lenders Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, as well as insurance giant AIG.

When companies look for a manager, they should look for experience, right? Well, maybe not. INSEAD Professors Kishore Sengupta and Luk Van Wassenhove say their research has revealed what they call the 'experience trap.' Leadership has nothing to do with titles. J. Frank Brown, the Dean of INSEAD, has met a lot of CEOs in his two-and-a-half decades in business and many of them are little more than LINOs - Leaders In Name Only. First came the book and now there is an institute in the making. The international bestseller, 'Blue Ocean Strategy' written by INSEAD Professors W. Managers today juggle more responsibilities than ever and for many of them networking becomes an afterthought. Herminia Ibarra, INSEAD Professor of Organisational Behaviour says that's a potentially fatal career mistake. "What you know is who you know."

Fwd:

Wow! Hard words. But Tao is correct and cogent in most of times.
Get ready to a sad period~~

10月份PMI(采购经理指数)急跌至44﹒6。

FW: Living with uncertainty - Rethinking financial systems

INSEAD - Knowledge eNewsletter | OCT 2008
This is indicating that I am back to internet world:)
Last week's P1 final exam and then days of Paris trip with Au.
P2 began this Monday. Totally different taste compared with P1 but definitely more juicy stuff. More analysis/thinking stuff which pleased me so much. Make more sense for MBA education.  P1 just serves as a foundation period. Then all courses suddenly speed up to march deeply and quickly into real business world.
6 weeks of study and then final exam before X'mas.  More team assignments, more qualitive case readings and report composing.
The world is becoming much cooler. Need to really think about the design of future roads.  Elective courses will just begin from P3 -- then we are just heading into totally different directions by the combination of those courses. Who I want to be? How I want to live? I am thinking and choosing.

Jake Cohen, Dean of INSEAD MBA program, is giving Managerial Accounting courses to all 4 sections of students here this semester!
Lucky thing. He is, I have say even as a male too, a charming professor. Intelligent head, powerful mind and super strong control over environment. Cool experience!

OCTOBER 2008
Forward to a colleague

Dear Jeff,

This month, we feature a range of interviews and articles from the World Knowledge Forum which has just been held in Seoul, South Korea. The financial crisis was uppermost in the minds of many of the speakers who included James Wolfensohn, former World Bank president, and Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group. INSEAD is the knowledge partner for the conference.

As ever, we welcome your feedback and comments, and hope you'll spread the word about INSEAD Knowledge to your friends and colleagues.

Regards,
Stuart Pallister
Editor, INSEAD Knowledge

Living with uncertainty

The authorities in the US and Europe have the right policies in place to tackle the financial crisis, but it will take time to restore confidence in the markets, according to speakers at the World Knowledge Forum. James Wolfensohn, who had led the World Bank during the Asian financial crisis in the late 90s, told the forum's 'Live on Wall Street' session that the markets have 'yet to be convinced of the utility of these interventions.'

Rethinking global financial systems

The consensus is loud and clear: in the wake of the worst global financial crisis since the Great Depression, a fundamental rethink of the structure of the global financial markets and greater cooperation of the major regulatory bodies are paramount, said the heads of major financial institutions at the World Knowledge Forum in Seoul.

Can China help power the global economy out of a crisis?

With the credit crisis buffeting global economic growth, China's industrial production and construction declined due to weaker export orders, factory closures for the Beijing Olympics and the sagging property market. However, retail sales growth remained strong, while inflation eased amid falling commodity prices. Nevertheless, Dominic Barton, Asia Pacific chairman of consultancy firm McKinsey & Company, is "very bullish about where China is going to be over the next two to three years."

http://knowledge.insead.edu/ChinaGlobalCrisis081003.cfm?vid=100

Creative entrepreneurs can survive the crisis

Creative entrepreneurs can weather the current global economic crisis better than traditional businesses, says Jean-Claude Larreche, INSEAD professor of marketing. Virgin Atlantic, which was founded by British entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson in 1984, survived and came out stronger after the airline crisis of the early 1990s when many established airlines went bankrupt, notes Larreche. Speaking via satellite, Branson (seen left) said a lot of opportunities will emerge as a result of the current global economic slowdown but companies need to be nimble to move quickly and decisively to realise these opportunities.

http://knowledge.insead.edu/CreativeEntrepreneursSurviveCrisis081008.cfm?vid=105

Sound long-term strategy is key, particularly in a crisis

With the current global economic downturn and dire predictions of a re-run of the Great Depression of the 1930s, the forecast is all doom and gloom.

But Professor Michael Porter of Harvard University, a leading authority on competitive strategy, begs to differ. He believes this time of great economic upheaval to be the tipping point for companies - if only they know how to harness the right strategies.

Gucci: In the business of selling 'dreams'

As many look to cut costs to cope with the worsening economic downturn, you would expect consumer spending patterns to be adversely affected, with the luxury goods segment being one of the hardest hit.

Not so according to Robert Polet, chairman of the Gucci Group. While he agrees that consumer psyche vis-a-vis buying behaviour has taken a hit, he believes that his company is in the business of selling dreams – and you can’t put a price tag on a dream.

The show must go on: Cirque du Soleil’s recession-proof formula

As we brace ourselves for what threatens to be the worst economic slump since the Great Depression, one company seems to be relatively unscathed by the global financial meltdown. According to Daniel Lamarre, president and chief executive officer of performance troupe Cirque du Soleil, whose shows still play to sell-out audiences, he is confident that his company will ride out the recession.

Steering a new course in unchartered waters

With credit getting tighter, companies are going to have to change the way they do business and manage their cash. Laurence Danon, executive board member of Edmond de Rothschild Corporate Finance in France, says we are likely to see companies implementing huge cost-savings plans, probably with significant layoffs and dramatic changes to capital expenditure and development programmes.

http://knowledge.insead.edu/NewCourseUncharteredWaters081015.cfm

Banks in Asia may weather global financial crisis

Banks operating in Asia should come out of the global financial crisis relatively unscathed compared to their counterparts in the US and Europe, given their more conservative lending activities and stronger balance sheets, bankers and financial experts said at a recent Bloomberg Leadership Forum held in Singapore.

India conference

As recession fears intensify, is India a safe haven?

"India is not simply setting new standards on trade, investment and economic terms, it's also emerging as a genuinely influential player in many of the big global policy issues that we are all talking about at the moment - climate change and energy sustainability, WTO (World Trade Organisation), and global corporate responsibility; because some of the Indian companies are models in this respect, and - the more interesting - because of their different origin." This is according to Helen Alexander, the new Confederation of British Industry Vice President, and previously Chief Executive of the Economist Group.

The UK beer market is one of the most competitive in the world but that did not deter Karan Bilimoria, an expat Indian with no prior experience, from taking it on.

The ugly side of innovation: walking a tightrope between creativity and lawlessness

Innovative companies tend to be successful, or – at least – bear the hallmarks of success. But what happens when innovative ideas are used for ill-gotten gains? That is what Mark Stein of Imperial College in London has been researching. His article on the Oedipus Complex and Enron (Oedipus Rex at Enron) chronicles the rise and fall of the former energy trading giant – through misguided leadership.

Levelling the playing field for small businesses

For the past five years, 32-year-old entrepreneur Majid El Jarroudi has been managing the four companies which he founded – Algoconsult, Immokey, Sezam Cafe and the social enterprise Jeunes Enterpreneurs de France (JEF), a non-governmental organisation which helps youths in suburban Paris set up businesses. He was trying to “make a good living” by building the first three, while making an impact on society through Jeunes Entrepreneurs.

The dash for cash: competing in China’s booming sportswear market

The Olympic flame may have been extinguished at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but the competition for the spending power of Chinese consumers remains red-hot for sportswear firms adidas and Puma.
